Shadow Ridge faced Palo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Panthers back in August, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Shadow Ridge had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19.

Eline Lemau paced Shadow Ridge's offense, picking up 15 kills. Lemau got some help from Lea Scott and her 28 assists. Scott was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Shadow Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. As for Palo Verde, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Shadow Ridge and Centennial will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Palo Verde, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Liberty on the 30th.
