Basketball Game Preview: Smithfield-Selma Spartans vs. South Johnston Trojans

Smithfield-Selma hasn't had much luck against South Johnston recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Smithfield-Selma Spartans will face off against the South Johnston Trojans at 7:15 p.m.

Smithfield-Selma is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Tuesday. They lost 63-37 to West Johnston.

Meanwhile, South Johnston was able to grind out a solid win over Southern Wayne on Tuesday, taking the game 56-43.

Smithfield-Selma's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for South Johnston, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.

Smithfield-Selma ended up a good deal behind South Johnston when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 58-42. Can Smithfield-Selma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
