Recap: Hinkley Thunderbirds vs. Vista PEAK Prep Bison
This season hasn't been kind to The Hinkley Thunderbirds, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 67-0 loss at the hands of Vista PEAK Prep. Hinkley has struggled against Vista PEAK Prep recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Vista PEAK Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcel Evans Jr, who rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Vista PEAK Prep also got help from Kyron Chiku-martinez who showed off his sure hands for 105 receiving yards.
Hinkley's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.3 points per game. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
Hinkley will take on Palmer at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Palmer is ranked 175th, while Hinkley is ranked 192nd). As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Far Northeast W at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
