Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Vista Ridge Wolves

The Liberty Lancers will face off against the Vista Ridge Wolves at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Liberty turned things around against Rampart on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-21 win over the Rams.

Meanwhile, Vista Ridge strolled past Fountain-Fort Carson with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 47-28. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Trojans are ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vista Ridge's win came from a few key players Liberty will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Meadow Huestis, who shot 4-for-6 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Byers, who posted six points along with five boards and four steals.

Vista Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Vista Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Liberty, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10.
