Basketball Recap: Baker County Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Baker County duked it out with Trenton on Friday. The Wildcats managed a 57-51 win over the Tigers.

It was another big night for Yamise Haygood, who went 11-for-26 on her way to 29 points and eight steals. She has become a key player for Baker County: the team is 10-4 when she posts at least five steals, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeniyah Ruise, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Baker County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They are 10-5 when they hit their own glass that hard.

When it comes to explaining why Trenton lost, don't look at Kayley Sloan. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-10 en route to 17 points and six boards. Sloan has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Addilynn Welbers was another key player, putting up ten points.

Baker County's record now sits at 10-8. As for Trenton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Baker County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-50 defeat against Ridgeview on the 27th. As for Trenton, they have also already played their next game, a 71-31 loss against The Rock on the 27th.
