Baseball Game Preview: Justin Garza Guardians vs. Sanger West Hornets

For the second straight game, Justin Garza will face off against Sanger West. The Guardians will venture away from home to challenge the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Justin Garza sidestepped Sanger West for a 3-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Guardians.

Luke Trukki made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Justin Garza is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-12 otherwise. Trukki was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Trukki wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bohden Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Smith a new career-high.

Sanger West has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Justin Garza, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.
