Recap: Erwin Warriors vs. North Buncombe Black Hawks

The Erwin Warriors were the 55-44 winner over the North Buncombe Black Hawks when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Erwin fell 51-38 to North Buncombe on Tuesday. Erwin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Erwin saw an underclassman step up: Teasia Hines scored 13 points along with three blocks. That's the first time this season that Hines posted two or more blocks.

North Buncombe found their leader in underclassman Aubrey Gilliland, who scored seven points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Metcalf, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Erwin has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for North Buncombe, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

Erwin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against T.C. Roberson at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. T.C. Roberson is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. North Buncombe won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Asheville at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Asheville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
