Baseball Recap: Chapman Takes a Loss

Wamego hit Chapman with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Irish fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 8-6. The Irish were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Aven Woods was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. He has become a key player for Chapman: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cade Hanney, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Chapman has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Wamego, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
