Basketball Recap: Betsy Layne Triumphs

Betsy Layne posted their closest victory since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Floyd Central Jaguars 65-62. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 80-77 back in December of 2024.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Samons, who went 9 of 16 en route to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Samons a new career-high. Wesley Buck was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points and seven boards.

One thing working in Betsy Layne's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Floyd Central has already played their next game, a 68-60 win against West Carter on the 25th.
