Football Recap: Granada Find Success

Granada won the last time they faced Dougherty Valley and things went their way on Thursday too. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Matadors made off with a 19-18 victory over the Wildcats.

The critical scores for Granada came from Caitlyn Nguyen-Schertzer, Isabelle Dunn, and Marin Lnenicka.

Granada didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Dougherty Valley to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Matadors weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 71.1%.

Granada's defense didn't let Kaitlyn Lohe., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Dougherty Valley's QB won't forget Madison Williams anytime soon given she sacked her three times.

When it comes to explaining why Dougherty Valley lost, don't look at Lohe. Despite the final result, she threw for 116 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 62 yards.

The win got Granada back to even at 1-1.

Granada has already played their next match, a 21-2 defeat against Foothill on the 26th. As for Dougherty Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-6 victory against Monte Vista on the 26th.
