Basketball Recap: Oakton Falls Short of Langley in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Oakton can now relate to. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 54-37 to the Langley Saxons. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Anya Rahman was a one-woman wrecking crew for Langley as she went 7-for-9 en route to 19 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Rahman a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (83%). Alice Allen was another key player, shooting 42% from the field to rack up 15 points.

Oakton's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-5. As for Langley, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 23-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Oakton is taking a road trip to face off against Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Robinson will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Oakton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Langley, they will square off against West Potomac on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Olivia Jones and Allen.
