Basketball Recap: Willow Canyon Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Willow Canyon waltzed into their game on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They enjoyed a cozy 77-63 victory over the Centennial Coyotes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 81-65 back in January.

Willow Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maurice Carter II led the charge by going 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with five assists and five boards. The match was Carter II's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaleel Kelly, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Willow Canyon's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.8 points per game. As for Centennial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Willow Canyon Wildcats face off against the Kellis Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kellis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Willow Canyon likes a good challenge. Centennial has already played their next matchup (against Sunrise Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
