Softball Preview: Emmett Huskies vs. Fruitland Grizzlies

The Emmett Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fruitland Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Emmett will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.

In what's become a running theme this season, Emmett gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They blew past Caldwell 16-2.

Oakley Scheibe made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Scheibe has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 15 consecutive pitching appearances. Scheibe was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Katey Martinez was incredible, going 4-for-4 with a home run, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kayla Vahlberg, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Fruitland suffered a rough 19-4 defeat at the hands of Parma on Wednesday.

Emmett has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Fruitland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
