Baseball Recap: Mt. Carmel Takes a Loss

Mt. Carmel had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Harrisburg Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. If the Golden Aces were looking for revenge after losing 19-5 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in May of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mt. Carmel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Asher Coston, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Harrisburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Harrisburg's side, Brody Nyberg looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Nyberg posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will welcome Robinson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harrisburg, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pinckneyville at 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
