Baseball Recap: San Dieguito Academy Takes a Loss

San Dieguito Academy extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-19 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ramona Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Monday.

Elis Rosenzweig made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That double was his first of the season.

As for Ramona, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

On Ramona's side, Alex Wilson tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Wilson has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Derek Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cal Melendez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

While San Dieguito Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
