Baseball Recap: Chamberlain Takes a Loss

Chamberlain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hillsborough Terriers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Terriers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 last Wednesday.

Chamberlain got a good showing from Sebastian Rios, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rios has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chamberlain saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Hyde, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Chamberlain's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Hillsborough, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chamberlain will take on Wharton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wharton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Chamberlain's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hillsborough, they will challenge King at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. King will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
