Basketball Recap: Mount Tabor Gets the Win

While Mount Tabor has struggled on the road with four straight losses, that wasn't the case on Tuesday thanks to Brooke Cilento. The Mount Tabor Spartans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Parkland Mustangs 56-54 thanks in part to Cilento, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Shaymiah Bailey, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. The matchup was her third in a row with at least 16 points.

Parkland's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asia Blackwell, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Parkland is 12-6 when Blackwell posts eight or more boards, but 2-3 otherwise. Azari Wilkins was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Mount Tabor's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Parkland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.

Coming up, Mount Tabor will be playing at home against West Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Parkland, they will head out on the road to challenge Glenn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Parkland is facing Glenn at the right time seeing as Glenn is stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
