It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Berthoud can now relate to. They fell just short of The Classical Academy Titans by a score of 20-17 on Saturday. The contest was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Spartans couldn't quite close it out.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Skyler Streicher, who threw for 252 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 39 yards. Those 39 rushing yards gave Streicher a new career-high. 101 of Streicher's passing yards were hauled in by Weston Peatrowsky.

Berthoud wouldn't let The Classical Academy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Berthoud can thank Sean Barajas and Jayden Michaelis for forcing both of them. Jackson Schipfer was his usual excellent self, rushing for 218 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry for The Classical Academy. Another player making a difference was Andrew Brown, who threw for 125 yards and a touchdown.

With the defeat, Berthoud broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3. As for The Classical Academy, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Berthoud does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Classical Academy, they will challenge Basalt at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Basalt has won six straight at home, while The Classical Academy won six straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
