Basketball Game Preview: Willapa Valley Vikings vs. Morton/White Pass Timberwolves

The Willapa Valley Vikings will square off against the Morton/White Pass Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Willapa Valley has 11 straight wins, Morton/White Pass has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Willapa Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Columbia Adventist Academy, but they still walked away with a 56-52 victory.

Willapa Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blane King, who went 8 for 15 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. King continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Aust, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Meanwhile, Morton/White Pass was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 62-58 to Mossyrock.

Morton/White Pass' defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Willapa Valley, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Willapa Valley came up short against Morton/White Pass in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 77-73. Can Willapa Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
