Lowell Catholic extended the longest winning streak in Catholic Central - Small this week by beating St. Joseph Prep, 47-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Crusaders.
Pope John XXIII was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in the league. The Tigers beat Marian 48-0 earlier in the week.
Lowell Catholic's dynamic duo of Adam Wentzel and Connor Sullivan proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wentzel threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns and Sullivan had 135 yards receiving. Chris Regan helped Lowell Catholic's passing attack out by catching three balls for 56 yards.
Joe D'onofrio was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 75 yards on eight carries as Pope John XXIII defeated St. Joseph Prep. Teammate Mike Sullivan added to the ground attack by rushing for 61 yards.
Brian Vaughan's team's Sullivan and Khaneil Bruce have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Catholic Central - Small in both passing and receiving yards. Sullivan has thrown for 1009 yards this season, while Bruce, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 36 catches for 589 yards. Chris Tamukedde from the Crusaders leads the league in rushing with 500 yards.
