Football Game Preview: Clemens Buffaloes vs. East Central Hornets

The Clemens Buffaloes will head out to square off against the East Central Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Clemens, who comes in off a win.

Clemens took a loss when they played away from home on October 10th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They skirted past Johnson 23-21. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Buffaloes as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Gavin Townsend was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 167 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 167 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Carter Mencke was another key player, throwing for 168 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, East Central fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Johnson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 35-28 to the Jaguars. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

East Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Clemens, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-5.

Clemens was taken down by East Central 56-7 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Buffaloes, Isaiah Mackey (who threw for 352 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards) won't be suiting up this time.
