Flag Football Game Preview: Dos Pueblos Chargers vs. Ventura Cougars

The Dos Pueblos Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Ventura Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dos Pueblos is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 33.6 points per game this season.

Dos Pueblos is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: San Marcos, who was ranked 13th at the time (Dos Pueblos was ranked eighth). The Chargers fell 14-7 to the Royals on Tuesday. The Chargers' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Even if they lost, Dos Pueblos' defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Zenia Potter. She also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.

Meanwhile, Ventura came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 33-0 victory over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Dos Pueblos better keep an eye on Ava Ortman. She was instrumental in Ventura's win, throwing for 292 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 55 yards. Mya Rodriguez was another key player, picking up 82 receiving yards and three scores.

Ventura's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Dos Pueblos, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 18-2.

Dos Pueblos skirted past Ventura 36-33 in their previous matchup back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
