Football Recap: Belton Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Georgetown + How To Watch

Belton lost to Georgetown back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 34-26 victory over the Eagles. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Eagles are ranked 119th).

Will Shepard was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 245 yards and three TDs while completing 94.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 53 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (172.5). 81 of Shepard's passing yards were hauled in by Cason Morton.

Belton has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 27.5 points this season. As for Georgetown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Belton has already played their next game, a 24-10 defeat against East View on the 12th. As for Georgetown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 35-32 win against Copperas Cove on the 12th.
