Basketball Recap: Stuart Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Stuart entered their contest against Valentine on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Stuart Broncos fell 56-46 to Valentine. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Broncos of the 54-47 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Stuart lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Drew Schmaderer, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Paxton, who went 6 of 8 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

Valentine was led to victory by Trystan Beebout and Dominic Beebout. Trystan went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists, while Dominic went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points. Those eight boards gave Trystan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Cronin, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Stuart's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3. As for Valentine, their record is now 7-8.

Stuart has already played their next matchup, a 67-51 defeat against St. Mary's on the 30th. As for Valentine, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-48 win against Broken Bow on the 24th.
