Basketball Recap: Markus Kerr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chambers over North Mecklenburg

Chambers suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2024 on Friday. They lost 83-62 to the North Mecklenburg Vikings. The Cougars have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Chambers lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Markus Kerr, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points. Kerr's evening made it 22 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik McCotter, who posted 18 points.

Chambers' loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for North Mecklenburg, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-2.

Chambers and North Mecklenburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Chambers will challenge West Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 141 places (43 vs. 184). Chambers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 75 points per game this season. Similarly, North Mecklenburg (ranked eighth) will meet Hopewell (ranked 46th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
