Basketball Recap: Paxton Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Paxton had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They slipped by the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders 66-65. The score was all tied up 26-26 at the break, but the Bobcats were the better team in the second half.

Kenzie Lassiter went supernova, going 6-for-9 on her way to 19 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Falk, who posted 11 points.

Despite the defeat, Pensacola Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Danielle Gulley dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. Gulley has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jenecia Swindell, who had 14 points and five steals.

Paxton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-26 win against Baker on the 18th. As for Pensacola Catholic, they have also already played their next matchup, a 51-45 victory against Rocky Bayou Christian on the 18th.
