Football Recap: Ryan Engel and Milo Rayford Secure Win for Randolph

There's no place like home for Randolph, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars by a score of 30-22 on Friday. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 63-6 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Leading Randolph to victory were Milo Rayford and Ryan Engel. Rayford rushed for 165 yards and one touchdown, while Engel rushed for 41 yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Randolph was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Lyons-Decatur Northeast lost, don't look at Brady Hayes. Despite the final result, he rushed for 82 yards and one TD on only nine carries, and also threw for 108 yards and one touchdown.

Randolph's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Randolph will face off against Walthill at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they will square off against Bancroft-Rosalie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
