Baseball Recap: Bentley Takes a Loss

Bentley couldn't beat Cornerstone Christian on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Phoenix came up short against the Cougars, falling 14-4. The Phoenix were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Braden Owen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Kevin Morales was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Bentley now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Cornerstone Christian, with the win, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bentley will challenge Making Waves Academy on Tuesday. The Marlins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Phoenix will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will square off against Brave Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
