Basketball Recap: Antonito Comes Up Short

Antonito lost against Sangre de Cristo back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Antonito Trojans had to suffer through a 66-16 loss at the hands of the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds.

Despite the loss, Antonito still got an impressive performance from Destanaya Quintana, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Sangre de Cristo can attribute much of their success to Haylee Freel, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points gave Freel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hallie Henry, who had 12 points.

Antonito's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Sangre de Cristo, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12.

Antonito didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-24 loss against Creede on the 22nd. As for Sangre de Cristo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-24 defeat against Trinidad on the 21st.
