Basketball Recap: Tatum Coyotes vs. Texico Wolverines

Tatum lost against Texico on February 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tatum Coyotes were beaten by the Texico Wolverines 79-36. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Wolverines are ranked 22nd).

Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Montez, who posted five points and five rebounds. Montez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Robert Martinez, who had eight points.

Tatum's loss was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Texico, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season.
