Basketball Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Rock Canyon Jaguars

The Fairview Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Rock Canyon Jaguars at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fairview focused on turnovers this week as the team gave up 16 on Thursday.

Last Thursday, Fairview strolled past Lakewood with points to spare, taking the game 53-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Fairview found their leader in sophomore Chloe Hickory, who went 7 for 17 en route to 18 points plus eight rebounds and two steals. The dominant performance also gave Hickory a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Julia Savage, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Fairview was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood only posted five.

Meanwhile, Rock Canyon's game on Wednesday was all tied up 29-29 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 57-46 to Broomfield.

Defeat or not, Rock Canyon got some senior leadership from Brooke Harding and Alyssa Goode. Harding dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Goode earned 11 points in addition to two steals. Harding is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Mallori Spielmann was another key player, earning seven points.

Rock Canyon's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. As for Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
