El Camino Real has gone a perfect 10-0 against Taft recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Royals will head out to face off against the Toreadors at 3:00 p.m. El Camino Real is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
El Camino Real will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Cleveland on Wednesday. The Royals were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cavaliers. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Amaya Perry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Nerissa Winokur was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
El Camino Real hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland struck out six times.
Meanwhile, Taft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Granada Hills Charter, falling 20-4.
Taft saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexandra Chase, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Chase has hit this season.
El Camino Real has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Taft's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: El Camino Real has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Taft, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given El Camino Real's sizable advantage in that area, the Toreadors will need to find a way to close that gap.
El Camino Real took their victory against Taft when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Royals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Toreadors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
