Baseball Recap: Port Jervis Find Success

Port Jervis won the last time they faced Sullivan West and things went their way on Sunday too. The Raiders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 6-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cole Corcoran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Elijah Campbell was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Port Jervis is undefeated when Campbell posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Corbin Hicks was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Port Jervis' record now sits at 6-9. As for Sullivan West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Port Jervis will head out to square off against Cornwall Central at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. Sullivan West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
