Softball Recap: McFarland Cougars vs. Taft Wildcats

McFarland extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They came up short against the Taft Wildcats, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on Tuesday.

As for Taft, the win got them back to even at 11-11. Considering they have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Taft's part, the result came thanks to Rilynne Stenderup's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Edgar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Rylee Owens, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Coincidentally, McFarland and Taft will both be playing Delano the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Wildcats will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
