Basketball Game Preview: Hyde Park Thunderbirds vs. Butler Lynx

The Hyde Park Thunderbirds will take on the Butler Lynx at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hyde Park heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Curie. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Condors are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Butler entered their tilt with Bulls College Prep on Saturday with seven consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with eight. They blew past the Bulls, posting a 73-36 win. The Lynx have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 24 points or more this season.

Hyde Park's defeat dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Butler, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.

Everything came up roses for Hyde Park against Butler when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured an 87-46 win. Does Hyde Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Butler turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
