Basketball Game Preview: Caddo Mills Foxes vs. DasCHE Spartans

The Caddo Mills Foxes will face off against the DasCHE Spartans at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Caddo Mills easily dispatched Trenton on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Caddo Mills fell just short of Lone Oak by a score of 59-57 on Saturday. The Foxes haven't had much luck with the Buffaloes recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, DasCHE had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They slipped by the Panthers 65-64. The win was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 531st, while the Panthers are ranked 157th).

DasCHE's win came from a few key players Caddo Mills will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Liam O'Grady, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Moses Obudo, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards.

DasCHE has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Caddo Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Caddo Mills opened the new year with a less-than-successful 67-60 loss to DasCHE. Thankfully for Caddo Mills, Davon Smith (who went 12 of 15 on his way to 29 points and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
