Baseball Recap: Banks Takes Down Mcloughlin in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Banks walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the McLoughlin Pioneers on Monday, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Braves have posted since April 9th.

Cris Medina made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Banks is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise. Medina was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Wyatt Jackson and Cade Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Wilson went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Grady Lucia, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Banks now has a winning record of 13-12. As for McLoughlin, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

As of now, neither Banks nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
