Softball Recap: Brighton's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Brighton was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Raleigh-Egypt on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell just short of the Houston Mustangs by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 11-10.

Laney Lawson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Maggie Livingston made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Brighton's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10-2. As for Houston, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brighton will welcome Dyersburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Houston, they will challenge Gibson County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Pioneers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
