Softball Recap: Monroe Comes Up Short

Monroe fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Snohomish on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bearcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Holly Pettitt spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vivian Knuckey, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Monroe now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Snohomish, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Monroe has already played their next contest, an 8-7 defeat against Arlington on the 30th. As for Snohomish, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-6 victory against Oak Harbor on the 28th.
