Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Zion Braves vs. Tolono Unity Rockets

The Mt. Zion Braves will head out to challenge the Tolono Unity Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Zion's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Tolono Unity's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mt. Zion barely beat Pleasant Plains the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Braves blew past the Cardinals 8-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Braves have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Tolono Unity had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Sabers.

Mt. Zion is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tolono Unity, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Mt. Zion skirted past Tolono Unity 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
