Softball Recap: Sumter's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Sumter barely beat Spring Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Sumter Gamecocks never let the Spring Valley Vikings get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Gamecocks brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Sydney Rhodes, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Grimsley, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Sumter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Valley only posted an OBP of .273.

Sumter moved to 6-3-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Spring Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Sumter has already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against Spring Valley on the 13th. As for Spring Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-12 defeat against South Pointe on the 12th.
