Basketball Game Preview: LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls vs. Clewiston Tigers

LaBelle is 8-2 against Clewiston since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls will look to defend their home court against the Clewiston Tigers at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in LaBelle's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Clewiston has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, LaBelle greeted the New Year with with a 79-64 victory over Everglades City.

LaBelle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Giovanni Beaver out in front who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Beaver a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Arrie Davis Jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

LaBelle was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Clewiston took a blow against Grandview Prep back in December of 2024, falling 77-42. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Pride are ranked 212th).

Clewiston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for LaBelle, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Everything came up roses for LaBelle against Clewiston in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured an 81-52 win. Will LaBelle repeat their success, or does Clewiston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
