Basketball Recap: Clear Brook's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Clear Brook entered their contest against Dickinson on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Clear Brook Wolverines fell just short of the Dickinson Gators by a score of 64-61. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolverines came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Gators are ranked 88th).

When it comes to explaining why Clear Brook lost, don't look at Kamryn Mclaurin. Despite the final result, she went 12 of 23 en route to 29 points along with eight boards and four steals. Mclaurin is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rezia Castillo, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists.

Even though they lost, Clear Brook was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Dickinson had a senior duo take command as Ciara Williams almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds and Kyndall Hosea went 8 for 15 on her way to 19 points and six boards. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Williams. Jazmine Hansley was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Clear Brook's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 26-3. As for Dickinson, their win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-8.

Clear Brook has already played their next game, a 57-36 victory against Deer Park on the 23rd. As for Dickinson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-52 win against Clear Lake on the 23rd.
