It was a good run, but Pe Ell/Willapa Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 18-14 to the Raymond/South Bend Ravens. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Raymond/South Bend earlier this season, when they won 11-0.

Lauren Matlock led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one double. Karli Phelps was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Pe Ell/Willapa Valley's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 18-5. As for Raymond/South Bend, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4.

Looking ahead, Pe Ell/Willapa Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Colfax at 10:00 a.m. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. Raymond/South Bend does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
