Basketball Recap: Vega Comes Up Short

Vega was the 33-26 winner over Gruver when they last played one another back in January of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Longhorns took a 55-37 bruising from the Greyhounds on Tuesday.

Vega's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 17-6. As for Gruver, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Vega and Gruver will both be playing West Texas the next time they take the court. The Longhorns will host the Comanches at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Greyhounds will host them at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
