Basketball Game Preview: Alhambra Bulldogs vs. Acalanes Dons

Alhambra and Acalanes are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Alhambra Bulldogs will square off against the Acalanes Dons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Alhambra has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Acalanes will arrive with seven straight wins.

On Saturday, Alhambra didn't have quite enough to beat Washington and fell 52-50.

Meanwhile, Acalanes didn't have too much trouble with Marin Catholic on Saturday as they won 56-42. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Wildcats are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Acalanes, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Alhambra didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Acalanes in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alhambra since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
