Basketball Recap: Breckinridge County's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Breckinridge County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 70-41 win over the Hancock County Hornets. The Fighting Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Breckinridge County to victory were Elizabeth Grimes and Kayleigh Huffines. Grimes went 7 for 16 on her way to 22 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Huffines went 10 of 14 on her way to 21 points in addition to five boards and four blocks. Grimes' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Mitcham, who posted five points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Breckinridge County was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Breckinridge County's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Hancock County, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Breckinridge County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-20 win against Glasgow on the 21st. As for Hancock County, they will head out to challenge Evansville Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hancock County is facing Evansville Harrison at the right time seeing as Evansville Harrison is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
