Baseball Recap: Hobbs Takes a Loss

If Hobbs was riding high fresh off their 15-1 takedown of Da Vinci last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hobbs took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Las Cruces Bulldawgs on Thursday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldawgs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Cole Kesner and Juan Camacho stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kesner scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Camacho got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Montes, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Hobbs dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Las Cruces, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Las Cruces beat Hobbs by a score of 14-5 later that day.
