The Conant Cougars will square off against the Palatine Pirates at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Conant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Conant didn't have quite enough to beat Prospect and fell 5-4.

Sophia Gomez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Palatine fell victim to Fremd and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 7-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Pirates were not able to get on the board.

Palatine's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7-1. As for Conant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Everything went Conant's way against Palatine in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Conant made off with a 9-0 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
