Preview: Tyler HEAT vs. Troup Tigers
Tyler HEAT will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Troup Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on December 7th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Tyler HEAT beat West Rusk 58-49. Given Tyler HEAT's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while West Rusk is ranked 914th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Troup was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Bishop Gorman 46-19 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Troup.
Troup can attribute much of their success to Bailey Blanton, who scored 20 points along with 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Blanton has scored at least 25% of Troup's points. Qhenja Jordan was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Tyler HEAT's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Troup, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Tyler HEAT won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, slipping by Troup 23-22. Does Tyler HEAT have another victory up their sleeve, or will Troup turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
